T-Strap Pumps: Style From Work to Cocktails

The best part about working with a site like Fortique is discovering all the wonderful blogs our creative members write.  One of our favorites is DC stylist Marissa Cornejo's Style in Your Closet.  We love it because the styles she writes about are the perfect mix of aspirational and attainable.  She'll pair Gucci shoes bought on consignment with pieces from Forever 21, and the whole outfit looks effortless.  We wanted to share her post from yesterday to give you a taste of what you can expect from Style in Your Closet.  Be sure to check it out and follow her work.  If you love her style, you can hire her here for personal style assistance!

I love the elegance of the t-strap pump. In the early 2000s my mom had a pair of off-white, navy blue tip, Ralph Lauren t-strap pumps. The shoe was absolutely spectacular. Paired with linen pants for summer it was a go to look for my mom. I eventually started to wear them and was forever in love with this look. I also managed to ruin her shoes wearing them to class.

I recently bought a pair from BCBG Generation that are super cute, comfortable, and look WAY more expensive than they actually are.
So, how do you style the t-strap pump?

Well, the silhouette is super elegant and elongates your leg! This is a major plus for petite girls. I like to wear them with dresses, cropped skinny pants and skirts. Because the shoe has great detail I avoid covering them up with trousers. You can definitely take this look into winter and pair them with tights for an ultra chic look with cocktail dresses.

This is how I would style a pair going into fall. For daytime looks, classic black dresses are perfect. Do a quick change into skinny black pants and a silky top and you’re set for a night of elegant cocktails.
